Bangsaen beach has long been the preferred coastal getaway for Bangkok residents, but it has recently transformed itself in to a fully fledged international resort too. It is now attracting visitors from all around the world, who are enticed by the prospect of spending their vacation in a beautiful, peaceful coastal town.
It is predominantly couples and families who go to Bangsaen beach. Very few large, young groups of backpackers go there, because they prefer the party atmosphere on the southern Thai islands. For those just looking to drink and party in Thailand, Bangsaen beach holds little appeal.
That is not to say that Bangsaen beach is boring – far from it. There are plenty of fun things to do – relaxing on the beach, water-sports in the sea, shopping in the malls, movies at the cinema, day trips, etc. It provides fun, but in a peaceful, serene environment. If it did not have so much going for it, then it would not have so many non-Thais setting up their new home there.

No visa is needed if you plan to visit Bangsaen beach for less than a month.. For stays of a longer than a month then you will need to get a tourist visa from a Thai consulate in your home country. A tourist visa is valid for up to 3 months and costs less than $50.
December to February is the best time to visit Bangsaen beach, though a couple of months either side of that period will still guarantee you good weather. Shorts, t-shirts and sun-tan lotion will be required as temperatures consistently get past 90 degrees!

The combination of natural beauty, modern amenities and Thai charm will see prices rise significantly in 2-3 years, so now is the time to get involved. Buy a property in Bangsaen if you have the funds available, but at the very least spend some time there in a rented vacation home.
