Biodiesel – Biodiesel is a kind of alternative fuel made from vegetable oil. Biodiesel can either be used as a substitute to ordinary diesel fuel, or combined with regular diesel to create a hybrid fuel.
Carbon Footprint – Roughly speaking, a carbon footprint is the degree of the effect of something on the earth’s environment based on its manufacture of carbon dioxide. Individuals have a carbon footprint; vehicles have carbon footprints, all of which are calculated in units of carbon dioxide.
Global Warming – Global warming is a gradual rise in the median temperature of the planet’s atmosphere which can radically impact global weather patterns. Although Global Warming may occur for a large amount of natural reasons, the term has come to be in general used to explain increases due to the increase of greenhouse gases (see below).
Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) – GHGs are gases released into the planet’s atmosphere that can speed up global warming. The most common greenhouse gases are water vapor, methane as well as carbon dioxide. Even though each of these gases happen naturally to some degree, the term GHGs has come to be associated with manufactured gasses produced on account of industrialization.
